Race 1: Claiming $50,000N3L at six furlongs
2 – Wraith
I know that Wraith (#2) doesn’t exactly love to win races, but she was against the rail bias last time and had previously run well enough sprinting to be a major player here. Jubilant Vision (#4) is the horse to beat, but I don’t wholly trust her at a short price.
$15 Win 2
$5 Exacta 1,5 with 2
Race 2: The Plenty of Grace at one mile on the turf for fillies and mares
2 – Stellar Path
Assuming that this race remains on turf, I view Stellar Path (#2) as a very likely winner. She kept good company in France, and Clement does excellent work with imports like this. Tokyo Time’s (#4) speed makes her the main threat, but this is a tough spot for her.
$25 Exacta 2-4
$10 Exacta 2 with 3,6 (Payout: $55.00)
Race 6: Maiden Claiming $75,000 at 1 1/16 miles on the turf
4 – Class Will Tell
I found this race to be quite interesting. Wealth Creation (#2) drops in class, but I thought she had a relatively good trip last time and while she was bumped at the eighth pole, I don’t think it cost her more than a couple of lengths at most. I believe she’ll be overbet. Diamonds Eye (#8) has some turf pedigree (Zanjero’s progeny are 7-for-50 in turf routes so far) and her debut was okay, but I suspect she won’t offer much value either. So I’m getting a little creative…
Class Will Tell’s (#4) first four races were admittedly awful. Last time, it’s hard to tell how much run she had when the trouble occurred, but she was totally steadied out of the race on the far turn. I feel like we’ve yet to see the best from a well-bred horse who has taken a long time to figure things out. Class Will Tell is far from being the most likely winner, but she’s going to be a very big price and I think she’s worth taking a shot with.
$10 Win/Place 4
$2 Exacta Key Box 4 with 2,3,8
Race 7: Optional Claiming $62,500/N2X at seven furlongs
5 – Noble Moon
Of course Anchor Down can win at a very short price, but it’s not as if he’s run better than Noble Moon has in his good efforts. Noble Moon (#5) really impressed me in the King’s Bishop last year and then actually ran okay when against the bias in the Cigar Mile. If Noble Moon is ready off the layoff, he’s the one you want in this spot.
$25 Win 5
