Horses to Watch from Closing Weekend at Saratoga

As previously mentioned, for much of last weekend the main track at Saratoga was favoring inside paths, and horses with speed that could secure position close to the rail. There were some strangely run races and many fields that were strung out a long way down the stretch—indicative of a biased surface. Rather than focus on only the horses that ran well last weekend, I’ve watched back the dirt races from Saturday, Sunday, and Monday in search of any horses whose chances were compromised by their wide trips. A few of the horses listed below did indeed run quite well (Salutos Amigos, Successful Runner) while others barely made it across the finish line, yet all merit a closer look when they are entered back.
