While I do feel some sense of accomplishment for making it through another long six months at Aqueduct—and actually netting a decent profit in the process—I could not be more excited for the shift to Belmont Park and six glorious months of top class racing in New York. However, despite my enthusiasm, I will be forced to sit out the first week of racing at Belmont since I’ll be attending this year’s Kentucky Oaks and Kentucky Derby. My father and I will be sharing driving duties as we make the trek to and from Kentucky, using Thursday and Sunday as traveling days, and I know I won’t have time to focus on anything but the Churchill races in that chaotic scene on Friday or Saturday.
I will definitely post some Oaks and Derby day opinions from Kentucky and will hopefully find the time to compose a couple of blog entries while I’m there. I’ll also be tweeting on the race days. Good luck if you’re playing Belmont this week!
