Because of some time constraints, I’m not able to fully elaborate on my picks by composing a complete entry, but here they are nonetheless:
Aqueduct, Race 1: $5 Win 1 (Alcomatch)
$2 Exacta Box 1 with 7-9 (with New Yawker & Flying Pegasus)
Aqueduct, Race 5: $5 Win 2 (Elusive Story – WINNER, $39.50)
$2 Exacta Box 2 with 1-11 (with the entry & Start the Party)
Aqueduct, Race 7: $10 Win 2 (Rose Petunia)
$5 Win 10 (Tmesis)
Aqueduct, Race 8: $10 Win 8 (Reload)
Gulfstream, Race 9: $15 Win 2 (King Kreesa)
I like a couple of horses coming out of the same $15,000 claimer won by D’Tiger in the first and fifth races today and they should both be decent prices. The figure came up strong and I believe it.
My plays in the seventh race are based on pedigree.
I think Reload will sit the right sort of trip in a race loaded with speed. Last time he was compromised by a slow early/fast late pace dynamic.
King Kreesa is my best bet of the day. He’s a horse who needs to be ridden aggressively and get sent to the front. When using those tactics he has been extremely effective, nearly pulling off a G1 upset in the Jamaica Handicap. Last time, he was strangled off the pace in a race where they went very slow early–a rare tactical error by Ramon Dominguez. Today he has Joel Rosario aboard, who is usually pretty good at getting forward position on speed horses. I know the most likely winners of the race appear to be Nicki’s Sandcastle and King David, but I believe my “Horse to Watch” King Kreesa is very close to those two in ability and may be three or four times the price.
